Rolled Lead for Industrial Use
Rolled lead is a versatile product. Its high density, its malleability and corrosion-resistance and the fact that it is 100% recyclable are essential characteristics for our industrial customers. RÖHR+STOLBERG uses the latest production systems to manufacture rolled lead for industrial applications.
Our products are employed in the following industrial applications:
- by manufacturers of roofing accessories e.g.: for
- ridge and hip sealing
- chimney and wall flashing
- dormer window joints
- roof window manufacturers, e.g.: for
- sealing window frames to roof tiles
- solar and photovoltaic panel manufacturers, e.g.: for
- sealing frames to roof tiles in the case of in-roof systems
- sealing pipe feed-throughs in the case of on-roof systems
- manufacturers of gas flue systems, e.g.: for
- sealing roof feed-throughs
- radiation protection e.g.: for
- industrial lamination of many different carrier materials such as plasterboard
- shielding for scanners for risk-detection and checks at airports, ports, Customs, etc.
- shielding for medical X-ray equipment
- shielding for non-destructive materials testing equipment
- soundproofing e.g.:
- industrial lamination of many different carrier materials for use in housing and commercial buildings
and a great deal more.
We supply rolled lead in the following forms and dimensions:
- Rolled coils up to 4,000 kg
- Tailor-made coils up to 1,000 kg
- Strip with a cross-section of 6mm² and upwards
- Foil from 0.2 mm thick
- Pleated rolls or blanks
- Blanks, flat
- Stamped blanks (e.g.: for roof feed-throughs)
- Plates up to 100 mm thick and 3 000 mm wide
- Laminated products with different carrier materials e.g.: X-READY
Coating technologies
Coated rolled lead may be desired for architectural and aesthetic reasons for application on roofs, as well as for hygienic reasons, e.g.: for use in radiation shielding. We use all modern technologies to comply with many and varied requirements, such as
- dip coating
- roller coating for one-side, or different coatings on both sides
- tin surface coating
- adhesive technology
Alloys
The choice of alloy can decisively determine the quality of a product. Market demands to make products lighter by reducing thickness also make new alloys necessary. We have the know-how and the technology, by using the right alloy, to make rolled lead foil of ±0.2 mm which is resistant to wear caused by mechanical loads or exposure to the elements.
