THE COMPANY
Röhr + Stolberg GmbH is one of the leading producers of rolled lead for the construction industry as well as for industrial applications. Our lead products play an important role in the area of radiation protection and soundproofing as well as lead engineering and technical products.
We are acquainted with almost all mechanical reshaping techniques - from rolling to embossing, pressing and stamping as well as mould or die casting. This enables us to deliver to exact customer specifications; on time, on budget and to the highest quality. All areas of the company, from material purchasing to production and distribution and customer services are DIN EN 9001:2000 certified.
With approx. 120 employees, we process around 30,000 tonnes of lead per year, exporting around half of this amount.
History
Röhr + Stolberg GMBH has its origin in two roots, both with a long tradition:
- The family-owned Röhr lead works from Krefeld-Uerdingen, which its history can be back to 1872, and
- The lead processing department of Metalon Stolberg GmbH, which was part of the traditional lead and zinc industry in the city of Stolberg, which stretches back many centuries.
In 1986 pooled their skills and merged to form Röhr + Stolberg GmbH.
Since 1989 the company has been a subsidiary of Calder Group Holding Ltd. a strongly performing group of unfinished lead product manufacturers with subsidiaries in Germany, England, Ireland, France and Holland.
In the year 2000 all activities were moved to Krefeld.
In 2003 Röhr + Stolberg GmbH widened its product range and took over the building product activities of JL Goslar GmbH for unfinished rolled lead. The year thereafter, the coated building products area followed.
In 2008, with VENUSBLEI for the construction industry and x-ready for radiation protection and soundproofing, Röhr + Stolberg introduced two innovative products onto the market.
